Submitting to PNAOJ

Do you have unpublished data, software, technology, or expertise that will be useful for the future?
Publish them at PNAOJ!

What's PNAOJ?

NAOJ is an inter-university research institute that operates various observational facilities, develops future instruments, and provides a platform for research activities.
While many of the scientific activities at NAOJ are published in normal journals, certain types of activities may not always be associated with new scientific insights that are suitable for normal journals. They include, for example, large catalogs of observational data or numerical experiments, detailed records of instrument development, and the descriptions of newly developed software.
PNAOJ publishes these activities of NAOJ for future reference.

All papers on PNAOJ are peer-reviewed.

All papers are searchable on ADS (Astrophysics Data System).

Eligibility

  • As a rule, we publish papers authored by NAOJ members. (The first author does not have to be a NAOJ member.) A manuscript that is not authored by NAOJ members may be considered for publication only if it is based on the research conducted at NAOJ facilities.
  • The contents most appropriate for PNAOJ include (but are not limited to):
+ Large catalogs of observational data or numerical experiments.
+ Detailed records of instrument development or experiments.
    + Review papers.

The contents should be potentially useful for current or future researchers.
  • PNAOJ is not meant to be a back-up plan for manuscripts rejected by other journals, although a manuscript that has undergone substantial revision may be submitted to PNAOJ.
  • We do not publish conference proceedings.
