Admittance to the Library

NAOJ branches staff are eligible, as well as Mitaka staff.

Library Hours

A valid staff ID card or access card is required to gain access to the Library. (24 hours access)

• A valid a staff ID card serves as your library card for borrowing library.
• You need your ID card to enter and exit the Library 1st floor. To exit the room on the 2nd floor, no card required. Don't forget your card and lock yourself out!
• The library Office is open weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except lunchtime, 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
• Unexpected changes in the library hours and services will be announced on the website of the Library.

Borrow, Renew, and Return

You can use a self-service circulation system 24 hours to borrow or return books with your card.

Borrowing privileges

Audio-visual materials	Up to 5 items	Up to 7 days

Journals, dissertation, rare books, microform materials and some Audio-visual materials do not circulate.
In-library use only.

Renewals

• A library material may be renewed once if it is not overdue and there is no waiting list for item.

My Library Login

Holds

• Users can place a hold on an item that is checked out to another user through the NAOJ OPAC (*Click on “Reserve” on the search result page.) or by contacting the library.
• Registration is required to log in the online NAOJ user service system.

Subscription newspapers

NAOJ members may use it at any time. Newspapers are located in the lobby on the first floor of the south building. Back numbers are only available for a few weeks.
